Hey friend 💜 If you’re here, I’m guessing your body is asking for a little reset. Good news: this tool is simple, quick, and powerful. Whether you’re feeling tense, frazzled, or stuck, somatic shaking can help you reset and release what your nervous system’s holding onto.
What is Somatic Shaking? (and why it works!)
Somatic shaking is a simple, natural way to help your body discharge stress. Think of how animals shake after something stressful — it’s their way of clearing tension. You can do the same! Shaking signals to your body that the danger has passed and helps you move from stuck or frozen back into flow.
When to use this tool:
After a stressful moment or long day
When you feel frozen or can’t make decisions
Before an important event, to clear nervous energy
Anytime you feel disconnected or sluggish
How to do it:
Stand with your feet hip-width apart.
Gently bounce your knees, letting your arms and shoulders relax and move freely.
For more intensity, switch from a gentle bounce to a small hop.
Continue bouncing for 60-90 seconds, then pause and notice how you feel.
Pro tip:
Get silly with it! Play some fun music if you want. Scrunch your face, stick your tongue out, make some noise… whatever feels good! This exercise is all about loosening up and letting go. Your body knows what it needs — all you have to do is give it permission!
